And if I need to go far the cases are tied to the gunnels of the canoe, till we get to shore.

And, RARELY, if I hunt from the canoe the gun is corded to the canoe with about a 6 foot cord, so if I were to drop the gun in the water, it would be retrievable.

Motor? Either a 9.5 Johnson or a 55 pound thrust Newport Kayak short shaft trolling motor.
