How explain magic, Don? Why do the gods shine on us one day and not so much on others but every time with this circa 1889 Parker?

My sense of it is every gun before it seemed dead in comparison, "lighter" than others of same gauge and dimensions. Fit seems to me the answer

I shoot it well. Believing in magic and miracles helps. I don't use it for serious water fowling, wearing white canvas smock over parka and oilskins. Fit again.

Destry, here for sea ducks from sink boxes on the rolling Atlantic, took one look at the Parker, ready to peel off big ones, knowing well no one lets go of magic.

A son, using it on his first hunt, fired his first shot at a streaking black before I could say too far. Dropped it dead. Never hunted again, said it was too easy, no skill.

Nothing is safe or certain with magic.
