Off topic.
Generally a person on this site will post a topic or ask a question. At about the second page or if luck presents it may make it to the third page the folks who reply are on to something totally different than what the poster asked about. Not even relevant to what was asked. Then generally about the same time, the three folks ( we certainly know who they are) at this site are at each other with insults, name calling and other childish banter. . So let me make a post here and see where it goes and see how long it is before it goes sideways and the insults and name calling starts
What do you prefer as your upland game gun, the 24 or 32 gauge?
Lets go!
John

I've not hunted with either so I cannot comment. But upland hunting with my 5 lb 13 oz 12 bore is fun!

John,
I am happy to reply and stay on target. I have had the pleasure of owning 3 Bayard hammer guns. Two 24s and a 32. The 24 suffered a severe Purdey bolt failure at the last Vintage Cup at Orvis Sandanona. I had the 24 barrels grafted onto the 32 receiver. The 24 bbls sat a tad proud to the 32 receiver but allowed me to keep shooting at 24 and 32 hammer gun events. Sadly, some A-Ho.. stole them during a break in 10 years ago.
I got the second Bayard 24 hammer in much finer condition from a BBS contributor. It has changed hands a couple of times since then. It is Georgia now.
I liked the 24. It tossed the same number of 8 1/2s as a 12 shooting 7 1/2. It marveled everyone, me included.
The 32 is a challenge. I have a new Poli BLE in 32. I have doubled on quail at Backwoods with it. (3 witnesses).
I just haven't figured out a load to make the 32 have the performance I could get out of the 24s.
I know you imported O/U 24s a decade ago. I still have room on a credit card should one surface.
Joe in Charlotte.
PS, and off topic (Stan, I got up to Expert in NRA small bore in 1973)
All best,
Joe

The FACTORY load for the 32 gauge is only 1/2 ounce. The FACTORY load for the 24 gauge is only 11/16 ounce
So 410 2 1/2" or 410 3"
The 24 gauge has a more effective payload, the guns are on the same frame if from Fausti.
Our reloads are more robust. For the 32 gauge I split the difference between 1/2 and 3/4 5/8 ounce For the 24 gauge I split the difference between 3/4 and 7/8 13/16 ounce
Mike
P.S. SURE WISH I COULD FIND 70MM HULLS AND NOT 65MM ONES

I have effectively used 24ga on preserve birds. It did the job well. I have no experience with 32 ga, though I have used 410 inserts in my 16 and they worked on quail when working a gun shy dog. I would not consider 410 for pheasant save by someone who was a much better shot than I. Given 32ga has a standard load around the size of 3 inch 410, I would see it in similar terms.

In answer to the OP's question........... neither. Prefer the 67 gauge, myself.
I shoot up to 3/4 oz. loads in them when hunting (factory WW loads). I have five doubles in that chambering, currently. But, that number is subject to change. Up, not down.
