Yes and no. If it gives you too much support removing it or some of it works well. Of course you can remove them but many times you end up with what is more cast off effect with less cheek support and a very thin comb. Best to look at the stock see what it will be like afterwards. Many are very thin with the cheek peice making them feel thicker. I dont shoot thin stocks well.

Thanks Jon, I didn't think about it being thin if removed.

Is it the looks you dont want? Or is it function? You could reduce it by half, taking away nothing from the top.

The look. But honestly I don't have the gun in hand to answer about the function. Maybe I'll fall in love with it.

Good chance you will learn to love the Euro style shotgun stock with cheekpiece. I certainly did with my humble AyA 16 gauge model 106. Just a natural pointer for me.

My first SXS was a German BLNE with cheek piece; after shooting it a bit I found it was no issue; later I found I could move back and forth between that and my fathers superposed lightning with no issues.
I understand the aesthetics, but the bottomline is function and they can be shot well.
Only using it through several rounds or more of skeet will tell. A bigger concern than the cheek piece, but easier to change, is the choking which may be to tight and need to be opened up if you keep it.

Battle,
If you do not care for the aesthetics, I believe that it could probably be removed and the stock bent to give you the proper cast off, if necessary, provided the buttstock does not have a thru-bolt.

Better give the barrel walls a good check just ahead of the cones. That's quite a bit of bore enlargement if it started as a true 16 gauge. It measures to a 15 now.
