Having hunted all of my life on private lands I have never done the pay-preserves much. The only two times I did, was when invited as a guest, and those two times were at Burnt Pine Plantation, and at Barnsley Gardens. Of the two Barnsley was the best hunting, and the best birds. We got into one wild covey that day.

That said, the best released bird hunting I can imagine is on my friend's private place near me. Released in August, his birds are so wild acting by mid-October that the coveys will often flush wild at the sound of you walking up behind the dogs from quite a distance. They often won't even hold for the pointers, flushing so far ahead of you that you don't even get to shoot. That's a good thing.

I'm sure some more guys will make suggestions based on their personal experiences.
