OSS Sidelock Joined: Aug 2010 Posts: 161 Likes: 105	I've always enjoyed Michael Petrov's work... his two books were, along with Monte Manderino's friendship, instrumental in my current custom rifle addiction. Seeing Michael's gun rack inventory was impressive... visiting Monte's shop the first time, left me in absolute awe. Over the last several years, I've been fortunate to visit some of my friends "gun rooms"... here are a few pics of a friend in Oregon's that I stayed with in August... he & his wife are very unassuming, soft spoken and just a great guy to be around... when he showed me his "collection", I was dumbfounded... rows of "mint" rifles... then he started opening drawers... each was custom fit, lined and were full with stunning Colts and Smith & Wesson pistols... it was a wonderful experience... Were you here in August for our Oregon Arms collectors two day show in Hillsboro? I did a display of the custom gun makers single shot rifles at the show. Mostly Ballard rifles by Schoyen, Pope, OA Bremer, AW Peterson, Hubalek, etc., but also one Gove underlever Rolling Block, and an OA Bremer High Wall. Last edited by Vall; 09/19/26 08:11 PM.

I bought some exceptional rifles from Dave but his Gibbs eluded me, it ended up in Canada so I understand. www.bertramandco.com Hey now!

The Oregon show dates were set last year and the Reno dates scheduled later... The Big Reno show has new promotors that haven't been able to figure out scheduling conflicts... they booked on top of Tulsa this past spring as well...I don't know if its a facilities availability issue or ??? We used to coordinate with Lou Fascio Sr. and he was great about avoiding conflicts with our OAC show. Junior was just the opposite. He'd say he'd avoid the conflicts, then schedule his show the same weekend. The new people didn't even respond to requests last year when we told them we'd like to avoid having our show the same weekend. So we sent them our schedule in hopes they'd avoid conflict, but they didn't seem to. I always have my table across from John Dutcher in Colorado, but they screwed things up royally this May! They put the stupid military vehicles where my tables were and moved me down closer to Mike's tables. I wasn't happy since I registered well ahead to guarantee my spot, and John wasn't happy when I visited him. He thought I didn't come to the show since my tables were gone. Not sure I'll be back again after over 30 years attending the CGCA show. Have some respect please, this thread started about remembering Michael Petrov, start a new thread if you want to [censored - Hard Stop on oblique posting!] about the scheduling of gunshows.
