Cathead biscuits and fried toad'e frogs...food of the Gods.

"At the Rapture"

Reminds me of a story...

I was on a train sitting in a siding about 2am one morning. My syco engineer had his light on in my eyes I had my ball cap tilted to shade my eyes from it...we just got the signal and we're moving again.

All of the sudden he jumped up and started preaching...

One day the Lord is coming to rapture us up...He ranted and ranted.

I eased my ball cap up and said...

Johnny do me a favor just in case he gets you tonight please lease don't leave me sleeping on this dam train.

With that he changed gears went from Godly to Devilish...

He picked up my lantern and raised it over my head and said I'll beat your brains out.

I pulled my cap off leaned my head towards him and said...you best give it your best shot because when you hit me I'm going to throw your azz off this train.

God works in mysterious ways...he calmed right down and his personal rapture came at a later date.

True story.

They're homemade....... using flour, baking soda, lard and salt (and water). They're about as big around as a cat's head, and about half that thick. Made right you can poke a hole in the side of one with your finger and fill it with butter and molasses, or syrup. Or, you can sop dove gravy with it. It's what all bread becomes at the rapture.

Ed I could write a chapter on my interactions over the years with the religous fanatic...

One on particular I recall envoled trains, cowboy boots, stinky socks a river, micro wave pop corn and a 2x4.

Another had trains a pulpwood mill, a vintage river bridge and the smell of rotten eggs followed by the big brake lever off the engine.

Those were the good old days...

They did. But that number is fairly lightly struck, to the point that it's completely gone on a lot of Foxes.

The number itself wasn't necessarily "lightly struck". The number was stamped on the Fox barrels before finishing, as a reference to the barrel finisher stating the beginning "weight class" of the barrel set. Whether or not it is visible, and the degree to which it is, was determined by how much metal was struck off the barrels in finishing, to help get the weight of the gun to where a customer ordered it.
