I had a great day today. Met with one of our young members and had a super time in our favorite gun shop.
We found four very interesting guns. One magnificent four barreled German wonder that went from shotgun to double rifle. I may take an inventory and trade for that one.
Two that I bought and one I put on hold.
It is one of the bought guns that I want your thoughts on.
It is a 16 gauge (so marked) Ithaca Hammerless.Serial number 127XX.
Damascus barrels and here is the kicker. The bores are 14 gauge.
Do you think that it has been back bored? Or is it probable that it was this way from the factory? I think the back boring is highly unlikely on a Damascus barreled gun of that age and gauge.
What say you???
Best,
John
