Galazan Experiences ... I ordered a 28Ga Fox DE grade gun in March 2006 and should get it in December 2006. The cost will be about $17,000. I now am in the process of ordering a 20Ga Fox DE grade gun. I looked at the CE and the FE. The CE's engraving was too shallow for my taste and I didn't want the gold inlays on a hunting gun. The DE was just right.
The process is enjoyable and you MUST visit the showroom and factory in Ct. Lou is the salesman and a real expert on guns. I would not buy a gun without handling either it or one very much like it. The pictures in the catalogue are not very representative of the way the guns lok in "real life". They are much more beautiful in real life! You can also pick out your wood at the factory. There is more latitude on engraving than I expected. My dog's bust will be on the underside of both guns, but the 28 will have quail on the sides and the 20 will have pheasant.
Chris Batha was one of the two gun fitters CSMC recommended and I liked him a lot.
The used CSMC Fox guns are somewhat rare and were mostly beyond what I wanted to pay. If you can afford the new CSMC, do it!
