Thank you, I don't know any French, but from the term table in there I wondered if that might be the case. Shoe Lump is the term Burrard used for this method of joining, so it may be more English than American. I have a J P Sauer & Son / V L & D Knockabout sidelock with this type of lump. Only one I can recall having seen. I may of course over the years seen others & just didn't note their construction.
