Found a post you wrote on Shotgunworld.

I am not registered on that sight so asking here.

You posted this picture:

Can you tell me if this is a picture of an NID barrel extension. Have a NID barrel set with a loose extension and trying to determine if it is repairable.

I think it is Hunter Arms. Do you (or anyone else) have a similar picture of an NID barrel extension.

Thanks!

That is an L.C. Smith rib extension and lug. An Ithaca NID lug has a notch and the rib extension doesn't have the extra nub.

Correct- strange, the LH side barrel has the Ithaca 4 stamp- meaning full choke-- but the RH barrel flat has NO visible choke marking-why so??? RWTF

1 was a choke marking as well 0,1,2,3,&4. 1&1 would be I/C & I/C.

Looking for a similar picture so I can tell how long the extension on an NID is.
The length that is anchored between the barrels.

Trying to determine if the loose extension on this barrel set is loose or loose and CRACKED.

Also, how was the extension on the NID attached? Soldered or brazed?

Yes- my 1928 era NID 12 2E has no. 2 right bl (mod) and no. 3 left barrel (imp mod) Believe only Ithaca and WRA with the M21 marked the chokes for each barrel-- Not Smith, Parker or Fox.

I believe I see a "4" stamped on both barrels.

The NID barrels I pictured are from a No. 4E two-barrel set. The 4 on the left barrel flat, to the right of the serial number is the grade. The choke markings are at the front of each barrel flat. 4 & 4 for full and full and 1 & 1 for improved cylinder and improved cylinder. The + marks to the right of the choke marks are the mark of Charles August the worker who proofed the barrels.

Asked a different way.

How far into the rib section does the extension of an NID extend?

Picture incoming of the barrel set I am asking about.
