I had a stirrup break in my old J P Clabrough, probably about 40 years ago. I had no idea what it might cost to get one made, obviously, no parts were readily available, So I just made it myself. It's still in there & still a-working. I don't really know how the original was made, but I made mine in three pieces. I had a piece of spring steel of proper thickness & measured the size & spacing of the pins & drilled hole for the pins. I don't recall now if I pressed or soldered the pins in but they're still there whichever it was. I finish filed it to shape to match the original.
