Miller, with due respect, I think that is what everyone does with whatever things they like(guns, cars, horses, women, etc.), so don't get too pious.
Don; This was not meant in any way to be "Pious". While I would agree with the way the majority look at things, with all due respect I do not believe you can point to a statement Beans ever made admitting to any fault of an L C Smith. While the 21 crowd seems to have mellowed out over the last few years, I recall one enraptured devotee (don't recall who now, perhaps it was you, but don't think so) who even thought because Win had taken out a patent on their version of check hook, that all previous break open shotguns did not have one. Spoke of it as being highly "Innovative". Check hooks had been around at least as far back as the 1870's, perhaps even earlier. I think most have finally accepted it is simply a plain basic model shotgun, made of quality alloy steels which give it good strength & durability, but there is really nothing "New & Innovative" about it. I was speaking of those few who were posting along about the same time as Beans but many seemed to be more offended by Beans posts. I simply found both ammusing. Incidently I have an uncle, who in many regards is an outstanding gentleman with many qualities I greatly admire. He does sort of remind me of Beans thuogh in that where-ever he is it is hotter, colder, rains harder, snows deeper, etc, etc than anywhere else in the world. It seems to be a trait he just can't help, everything has to be the "Ultimate" or he can't accept it. Fortunately as you said the majority are not like that.
