In answer to the last post , yes I had two fingers in the guard one on each trigger. This explains the situation somewhat.so front trigger first, as in bird flying away, so closer then further.
As ever , a mine of information and knowledge here which I appreciate no end. Don't feel bad when I first saw two triggers I thought the same thing but never tried it.

A few weeks back I scored an Antique Williams and Powell 22 bore double. I'm betting you had both fingers on the 2...thus the 22 bore was born

As ever , a mine of information and knowledge here which I appreciate no end. Don't feel bad when I first saw two triggers I thought the same thing but never tried it. Yes, dont feel bad. Lots of beginners think the same thing. But, thats not how to do it. When I first shot double triggers I went to the skeet range and practiced front to back, then when skilled, back to front. Thats the beauty of double triggers, one can instantly go to the tighter choke barrel when the need arises. I remember the first time I hunted with double triggers....had a single shot all day long. Couldnt force myself to go to the back trigger. A few rounds on the skeet field was the cure. Back to your gun, at least you know its not a problem with your gun.

Typo- its a 12 bore. Also good to know Im not unusually incompetent. Tell you what though, both barrels made a helluva mess of the patterning paper at 20 yards. So it I ever need to use it for the wrong reasons its both barrels!!
