I was browsing Holt's upcoming auction (next week) and found a very interesting pair of Purdey's. They were made for the Paris Exhibition in 1900 and are hammer ejector guns, steel barrels, with island type locks.
They are maqnificent. I admit that I have a weakness for hammer guns and these are as good as it gets---especially with ejectors. They think the ejectors are original but there is the possibility that the ejectors were retro fitted.
Estimate is 16,000-20,000 pounds. In recent years Purdey's have made a small number of hammer ejectors and I'm sure the price far exceeds the estimate for these 100+ year old beauties.
Too rich for me but it is fun to dream about.
