Kirk Merrington in Kerrville Texas, is the only person I recall reading about in recent memory that made a set of barrels for someone.

It was a damaged FAMARS over and under.

Greener has a stock of Damascus tubes and they also are available from Peter Dyson in the uk

CZ,

I think the FAMARS gun was sleeved since they were originally monoblocked barrels.

Not for an English sxs maybe, but American barrel makers that come to mind include Winchester, Remington, Ruger and a host of others. Single barrel blanks I suppose could be gunsmithed together to form a sxs...Geo

I've discussed having a set of barrels made with Dewey Vicknair and one other smith who's name escapes me at the moment.

It's not inexpensive. Even if it's cheaper than what Purdey would charge. Needs to be a gun that is worth spending the money on.

I have some tubes on the way, mostly rough forgings. I'm not even sure what is there and what is salvageable but I might have something suitable. Once my next UK shipment arrives.....seems like I have been saying that for some time now.

One name that comes instantly to mind is Del Whitman. He was THE barrel guy for Rigby (Paso Robles). He probably has more recent experience putting together barrels, including the brazing of the lumps, regulating etc than any single person in the US (not counting actual gun making factories, like CSMC) . Dels done some barrel work for me and the work was best quality.
The last price I heard for a brand new set of barrels, completely finished, from scratch....was north of 15K.

Butch Searcy (Boron, CA) has made more side-by-side rifles (and some shotguns) than
any other US maker. He's been building them for thirty years and his total production is probably around 500. The last time I checked, he got his tubes from Pac-Nor and then
threaded them into a mono bloc that he manufactured. I have no idea if he would barrel
someone else's action - but he is certainly capable. Most of his rifles are .470s and .500s.

The numbers Dewey floated to me were $12-14K. That was a little more than a year ago.
