Could someone please try (remember, I am a bit "dense" ! )to enlighten me as to why Dave's left tube is stamped "choke" and also 16.7/16.7?

And also, why only one dimension stamped on the right barrel? (cuz that one is actually cylinder bored?)

Thanks,
Mark

I wouldn't think this is a real cheap gun, as it has the third fastener through the dolls head extension. But, I don't know anything about these guns.

Mark: Dave will get us better pics when he has the gun. I'm not sure the lower stamp is 16.7, and can't read the stamp on the right (cylinder) barrel. If it's 16.8, that would be .6614" and close to the 16g standard of .662. 16.9 would be .665".

At least it does not appear to be a "deathtrap" like that 28br in RevDoc pic.

Fabrique Nationale of Herstal was an absolute giant in the industry when this shotgun was produced. Yours seems well cared for from what can be seen. I would suggest that you attempt to identify the model. It appears to have some quail / grouse / dove hunting left to do, with the proper loads. Abby at Cornell Publications has a reprint of their 1928 catalog:

I recently got out bid on a 1920 catalog from FN. The final selling price was over $300....ouch!
