That was the time period when the Spanish were sending us quite a few doubles that were made to a price point. Some of them had soft parts, etc. Things got better when AyA started exporting higher grade guns, along with Arrieta, Garbi, etc. The Miroku-made Charles Daly guns and Ithaca's SKB's, showing up in the mid-60's, offered a lot more gun for not all that much more money. Also the Browning BSS. Took awhile for Spanish guns to get past the bad name they had based on their early exports.
