I�d imagine you weren�t DENIED but DELAYED, but I�ve been wrong before. The PIN number is requested by people who commonly have issues with being delayed due to having common information like �John Smith�, and won�t put their SSN on the form. I don�t believe it�s mandatory to use said PIN number if given it, but then you run into the issue you had previously. Do you put your SSN on the form?

Could always call the ATF, they�ll need to verify your identity.
