I have had only one experience with an Echo mount and it was not very favorable. It was on a pre-64 Model 70 Winchester in .375 H&H Magnum and evidently the recoil was such that in order to prevent the scope (a Lyman Alaskan) from sliding in the rings, the previous owner had filed depressions in the scope tube and used pointed set screws in the rings to stabilize it. I have avoided Echos like the plague since then.

I had the mount removed and replaced with a Griffin & Howe side mount. I sent the scope back to Lyman, who replaced the tube and completely refurbished the scope for a modest price. This was back in the 1960's, when everything was a lot cheaper. I believe that Model 70 was one of the pre-War models with the straight taper barrel. I found it a little heavy to carry around and parted with it eventuallly.
