Joseph Just is a well-known gunsmith in Ferlach, Austria. Check the firm out at http://www.jagdwaffen-just.at

Jim, no doubt the .375 can be overkill on a duiker. That's why I used solids. Shot was at just under fifty yards, some trees/bush in the way. He was feeding on the white puffy flowers of blackthorn (acacia mellifera).

Mark, that's very interesting. Perhaps I should give a tad of time for the hulls to cool down before I pull those Darne ears?

Actually I may take the DARNE again as I seem to shoot it well. Next time I'll either load up 50 rounds of 10 gauge or take some 1 oz. 12s and the gaugemate golds. Last year I'd cut down and loaded Federal hulls to fit my 2-7/8" chambers, but the brass is slightly oversize and my extractor would not always ease out a loaded round, requiring engagement of my fingernail from time to time.

Couple of more pix:

Nephew Norman and first four-footed quarry, gemsbok with a 30-06

Pofadder for appetizer: it's gemsbok large intestine, heart, liver and kidneys with sheep fat and very slow-cooked

Aardvark on the hunt for termites in the Namibian bush

Regards, Tim

Tim: That gemsbok is a beauty. Record book material? Keep the pictures coming as I,and I expect others, are really enjoying them!

Thanks Jim,

Here's a final installation:

Aloe Marlothii on hillside at Dr. Mark Sutherland's Natal game farm

Reedbuck with landowner/PH Dr. Mark Sutherland Natal.Dakota 76 left hand, Lilja barrel with Leupold 1.5x5 in EAW pivot mount

Gemsbok with right barrel 135 long paces Iron Sights. Josef Just .375 H&H rimless magnum, back action sidelock double

NOTE on Photography. For the first time I took along a digital camera (sheath seen on my hip in the balloon-busting shot). It's Leica's D-Lux 3, a ten megapixel point and shoot that can display a histogram and records in both JPEG and RAW, the latter if I want to crop/enhance some serious pictures for publication.

Regards, Tim
