Art and his boys. They're the best!
All the fitting, iron, ejectors, latches, forend, blueing, engraving, choke work, soup to nuts.
Amazing grade 1 wood.

That's nice, Bob. Well done!

Although I prefer 30" for my uses, on a gun like this, I could live with 28s.

I have a FAIR Verona with 28s and .410s and, like buzz said, they're fun to shoot. Whatsit weigh?

Good morning Stan,

It would have been great but Browning never made the sub gauges in anything longer than 28" barrels.
30" tubes on a sub gauge Superposed would have been the Bees Knees.

Plenty of 20 gauges were made "Lightning" and many weighed 6 pounds and a couple ounces.
They removed extra wood from the buttstock and milled a lot of weight out of the receiver.
The 28's and 410 barrels were fit to the same frame but were heavier (read barrel weight) so I"m guessing never as light as the lightest 20's.
Mine should be 6 1/2 to 6 3/4 lbs.

Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year to you and your family.

Credit where credit is due,
Skeettx thinks subgauge sets are fun to shoot, buzz's comment is puzzling crazy

Well done!! None of my Grade 1s have wood like that!!

During regular production, the .410-bore and 28-gauge Superposeds were only made in standard weight and weigh the same as a similar standard weight 20-gauge. It certainly appears they were made to be skeet guns matching the 20-gauges in weight and balance with field choked guns almost an afterthought. My three skeet guns, all with 28-inch barrels, each weigh within a fraction of an ounce of 7 pounds. My 20-gauge Lightning, 28-inch barrel, skeet gun weighs 7 ounces less. A lot of the difference is in the barrels --

That is pretty wood....French walnut? I’m sure Art checked it for salt and it tested negative. Were most of the salt wood guns Black walnut? The 28 ga barrels look like flat rib 70’s-80’s barrels .....nice! Why did you not have the gun converted to a long tang which would have been easy esp since the 28 barrels were of long tang vintage? Nice gun Bob.
