31" would not be long enough to do barrel work but should do fine for everything else. It looks well used but that does not mean much. I have a bridgeport built in the 1940's that still keeps nice tolerances.

It looks shorter than 36" between centers, but longer than 28", I would guess the owner is correct. I prefer 36", but 31-32" will work fine( 28" will usually do well). Who ever said LeBlond made a good lathe was absolutely correct. I would "jump" on the deal, but get everything you can, "dodad" wise, in the deal, especially steady rest, taper tang drills, indicators, centers, Collets, Tool holders, extra chucks( with all jaws). It doesn't take too much extra stuff to make an $1,100 lathe free. Mike

he said all the tooling is coming with it. I'm going to assume that includes everything he has for it, which is what he said when I discussed it with him. he said he's just looking for something bigger but either way it seems like a good deal. especially down here where machines are hard to come by

loaded up and headed to the house Offloaded and awaiting some walls to the new shop space. I'm planning to do some restoration. mostly cosmetic but also needs a couple of things to make it safer, like a change gear cover.

just did some measuring. seems to be a 15x40. 1 1/8 spindle bore. not certain about the swing but it looks like 7.5" from the ways to the center of the spindle.

Boy! that shows my "eyes" are not nearly as accurate as a measuring tape. How embarrassing. It is an even better deal. Mike

It was really hard to tell from the picture because of the angle.
No steady rest, but it does have a nice quick change tool post and there was a ton of carbide inserts, a drill chuck, live center, and other odds and ends.
I'm really happy with it

Jim, You might be able to find a steady rest( or one that can be adapted) at Lost Creek Machine, Inc.( www.lostcreekmachine.com). Mike

Mike- where is the WTB section on Dave's forum.?? I am down-sizing my gun related tool room and accumulation of hand tools, etc. related to gunsmithing work. mics, verniers, tool bits, tap extractors, Dremel tools, etc. and would not mind working something out with the membership. TY-- RWTF
