Raimey: It seems I stuck a comma where it shouldn't have been. Try http://www.CharltonHallAuctions.com & it should work. Best Regards, George

David: You, sir, have my admiration. London during the Blitz must have been awful. My mother was from Eastbourne on the channel. My grandmother, aunts & uncles wrote & told us how truly horrible it was. That said, I AM NOT A GUN DEALER, I AM A REAL ESTATE BROKER, I HAVE A HOBBY OF BUYING, SELLING & COLLECTING GUNS! I also have a hobby of searching for American Civil War relics, but I am not a dealer in that either. Yes, for the umpteenth time I have held "Bo Whoop" to my shoulder. I was at the Vintager's Shoot at Pin Tail Point from Thursday through Sunday & have the pictures to prove that as well (I'll try to post them here if I can figure out how). I spoke with the fellows at the Fox display, told them who I was & told them to come by the Tidewater Inn where my grand daughter & I were staying & I would be happy to show them the pictures & my copy of the Fox letter. I really don't appreciate being call a LIAR by you or anyone! As to my reference to the "woodsmith" involved in re-stocking "BO Whoop", you have your terminology & I have mine! (by the way, the word Uncloud is spelled u-n-c-l-o-u-d) which brings to mind: BUFFOON - "A poor player who struts and frets his life upon the stage and then is heard no more. 'Tis a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury signifying nothing". I am curious, could you be trusted to re-stock a Purdey?
Back To You Sir.....George Lander

I've got half a stick of chewin gum and a beer, against anyone else's, that says the legend of the "...Woop" will continue at least thru ... say ... the bird season.

I have been acting as a consultant on the guns they are sending from the UK and will be helping with the appraisal of guns consigned from the US.
It will be a 'Christie's size' sale this December but the plan is for rapid expansion and Charlton Hall are ambitious about being able to provide an interesting sale annually that American buyers can actually attend, should they wish.
A lot of Americans still buy guns in the London auctions and this simply provides an alternative, stateside venue for those planning to consign guns. The benefit for those consigned in the US is that re-import duty and VAT are not applied, as they are when sent back to London.
It is an interesting project and time will tell if it has legs.

I would think you might get a better turn out if the auction was centrally located in the United States...I also don't see December as a good month to have it. I know lots of people will be hunting.

And a lot of people will be shopping for the holidays while taking a few days off from work. Heck Joe, Columbia, South Carolina is the centre of the world, isn't it? No one wants to have to go up to yankee land to buy good guns, do they?
Best Regards, George

Dawson: Thanks a lot. If you could e-mail me at palmettotreasure@aol.com I will send you a whole bunch. I wish I knew how to do it otherwise but you see I am only somewhat computer literate.
Best Regards, George Lander

So, basically, a bunch of dealers who have been unable to sell their guns with a three or more day inspection privelege, have decided to try to sell their stock at auction, with a reserve price of who knows what? A great innovation, no doubt, but how, exactly, is this any different from James Julia, Amoskeag, RIA etc.?
