To Franchi...

I am 100% sure his ultralight has xtra wood. I was going to buy it from him till I saw it, and the stupid little stamping on the pistol grip that said X-Tra wood. I'll stick with my 35 year old Franchi Falconet, it has real wood and the original case colouring. Honestly, take a look at the new Franchis since they fell under Beretta ownership, they are a shadow of thier former self.

I don't believe the Remington "realwood" is even similar. The picture I saw and the description indicated that it is two slabs of upgrade wood laminated with a layer of some plastic glue between them. This is to use two pieces of pretty wood that were plain on one side and are now laminated into one piece of laminate that is pretty on both sides. There is no decal or other phony grain applied to the outside. That's my understanding. Couldn't find much on Remmy's website. JL

Hi Pietro:

My next question about the Ulrtalight is: is this gun stamped ULRTALIGHT on the bottom of the receiver? I can't beleive that Beretta would put fake wood on a gun that sells for $1900.00 for the standard grade. I did also see the better grade and it was a beauty! Of course it cost about $600.00 more! Mine is th standard ultralight.

I too have a Franchi Falconet. Mine is one of those that were named Falconet Field. I have the black model and is a 20 ga. It is a very nice gun for upland hunting! I just restocked it so now I am afraid to take it afield. LOL I think that the brand Franchi is the best kept secret in the shotgun world.

In any case, look at your friend's gun toe see if it is stamped ULTRALIGHT. If it is an ultralight with fake wood, I will be very shocked!

Take care,

Franchi

Hey again Franchi

Mine is a Falconet skeet, all original, I am thinking of redoing the stock in an oil finish, just afraid to because it is all original and in 85% condition.

As for the ultralight, it isnt the delux version. It is stamped ultralight on the top of the reciever. I am not sure why it has xtra wood but it does and it is brutal.

You are right though, Franchi is definately one of the best little secrets of the shotgun world, but only the pre Beretta takeover ones. The newer alcione look too machine made, and the new Renaisance look too cynergy.
