"Wax" is OK for any gun material. However, some wax formulations may have a bit of acidic content. I used Johnsons' Paste Floor Wax for 25 years with narry a hitch. I now use Ren Wax just in case ----. Wax is a solid when the solvents dry. As such, it will never run off the surface and adds some level of abrasion resistance. It is a bit less likely to trap gritty airborne dust than oil or grease products. The only issue would be if it made a surface too shiny for your appearance taste.
