It is important to note that you were reinstated with EVERYONE else. No special treatment or belief that you deserved it. You got back in with the 'fresh start' just like everyone else that had been banned.

Way before that, I was kind sir, as in "somtime ago, and have not re-upped with the changes there." Freshen your skills.

I have been in private correspondence with some due to my inadvertent causing worry about Wilhelm's well being.

Now to a word that has been used here and causes me great concern.
Insanity.
Mental illness is a horrible affliction and sometimes is not completely controlled. Let us be very careful in using that term as it causes enormous pain to those that suffer and the families that contend and love the afflicted.
An aberrant personality is often expressed with the refusal to let go of a perceived, or true, offense.
It is the well man that can recognize the fault in not seeing a good way out of a problem.
For eons, it has been to forgive and to forget.
To forgive is the easy part. To forget is not so easy. Men, being frail creatures, seem to hold grudges for a very long time.
Can the three guys that are at one another's throats see the wisdom of at least forgiving and move on.
So, you cannot forget----that's OK. Just let it seem so.
Robert is one of the most accomplished researchers ever to have graced this board.
Thorney is one of our best poets and brings us laughter at times.
Joe is a passionate man that probably caused his mother to give him the eye when he was a teen.:}

Try to be a little more accurate, I accused Lowell of being an "objectophile" ...mostly out of not understanding all his sexual double entendre and references to shooting anyone who "hops his fence" with some special rifle.....a homosexual is far too normal for this guy...then I realized that joe has copied lowell's MO for quietly, politely slamming people, so I chose to label him homOjoe...for the same MO...then you misunderstood and I just let you run with it...go back and read the posts, you'll see...I was careful not to do any gay bashing by lumping this objectophile with being gay...it's like lumping pedophiles with homosexuals...it's definitly unfair to homosexuals...think whatever you want about this person..
Whatever his kinks are, know this...he loves all this attention so much, that he won't agree to a truce because all the attention he is receiving would end. The only thing better that you could do for him is to openly discuss his wardrobe on this thread.

I come to this board to contribute contructive questions and answers (more of the former than the latter) and lurk and learn about fine vintage guns - a topic I find fascinating and engrossing. Along the way I am humbled and inspired by the generosity and fellowship of like-minded people, and try to live up to that in whatever way I reasonably can.
I enjoy watching and sometimes participate in good natured banter among the constructive contributions on a number of boards; this, however, is no longer good-natured, is more robust than mere banter, and dilutes the constructive contributions. It's undignified, unseemly, and needlessly poisons an otherwise great community, one which, given it's rarefied subject matter, I'd have thought well above such rubbish.
It's not what I come here for.
I'd like it to stop.
Stopping it will probably require that one or more parties - with grace and dignity - walks away and refuses the bait.
Who can rise to the occasion?
From what I've seen all three online personae are capable.

Thank you...you are correct...unfortunately life would return to normal...academic posts would begin to be exchanged...Europeans would once again be looking to the Doublegun BBS for VALID information about their own guns, and all would be well...that is until Lowell once again unleashes his talent for politely slamming people to make room for his conversations about his wardrobe and shootin' his fence hoppers. When you and I allowed Joe to get away with accusing Rev of taking psychedelics for his observations, he came right back to accuse him of smoking his "hemp rugs".
Tell me John, what's the point of researchers making thesis size contributions of unpublished research, as Rev has, when nobody has the balls to sheild him from this abuse? You didn't even attempt to correct the situation...this is your prerogative, but please try to understand my position...

What can I say in answer to your several questions.
It seems to me that if a man feels offended, he has the right to ask for redress. If he allows an insult, perceived by some, to roll off his back, that, to me, is a signal that he is not bothered and wishes the matter to disappear.
I have not found it necessary to defend my friends very often and as I am so busy keeping myself in check, time is short to do so.:}
I ask of you the same as I did Joe.
Is this not the time to stand tall and let forgiveness, even without forgetting, be the proper course.
I rather doubt that, if you will simply refuse to banter, or lock horns, with either, they will be anxious to continue battle with you.
I ask that you go to your corner, nod to your opponent and leave the ring to some of us pros.LOL
