The observation made that many old 10s are actually in quite nice condition has been accurate from my experience. They have been generally lower priced than a comparable quality 12 here in the US. I don't know if that's still true. But that's why I have 3 ten gauge doubles. And I haven't hunted waterfowl in 15 years. (Perhaps that will change now that I'm retired.)

I have two William Fords. Both originally were chamberless guns. The newer of the two (1920s) still has 10 gauge chambers and 8 gauge bores with 3 1/4" chambers. The older (1892) started with 12 gauge chambers and was subsequently rechambered to a 10. I was surprised that 10 years has gone by since I picked up the first and nicer one, and five years have past since getting the second.

These are both pictured here: https://www.doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=482382&page=1 (and I'm still amazed at the expertise on this forum!)

My 3rd 10 is a high grade 10 by Greener.
