I have been looking at leather and wood cases. I actually have purchased a Tourbon (for more apparently than I should have). I have since found cases in the UK by GDK or something like that and they are have the price of the Tourbon even with $75 to $100 shipping. Anyone have experience with either of these makers/sellers. I know the Tourbon is made in China. I do not know the location of manufacture of the British cases. Actually, with shipping on the British cases and the price which includes shipping on the Tourbons, they are both about the same of the cases that WERE in Jeff's Outfitters. Any suggestions or comments (unless you plan to criticize my choices and recommend that I spend $1000 for a "genuine British........ etc, etc.) would be greatly appreciated.

I thought the GDZK Guardian cases were the tourbon cases just rebranded?

They may indeed be. The big difference is the GDZK cases have two combo locks versus one key lock on the Tourbons. From the picture they look very much alike. I will say that the Tourbon I have looks good with the exception of the straps. They are bonded leather, not saddle leather or double thickness and stitched at all. Also, on the Tourbon the handle must be folded out of the way to get the key in to lock it and without the straps tightened (their purpose) each end can be pryed open just a small crack. The leather on the Tourbon looks really good though. Once I get the GDZK I will have spent $200 less than the Tourbon. Of course, Tourbon has a 60 day return policy and it should not cost too terribly much to mail it back to California.

Perry: The straps would be the easiest part of the case to replace. Saddle makers do that stuff all day long. Gil

I was thinking that Gil. The case really is pretty nice and the straps would last a good long while before stretching too much.

Ebay UK has real leather case straps that look pretty good. I have purchased a couple of sets and they work and look good. Just check for proper length.
See EBay item number 262310320345. Again, this is EBay United Kingdom. Took about 2 weeks to receive them.

I believe I saw those SxS40. They were double thickness harness leather nicely stitched if they are the same ones you saw.

Check out the sale section there's a fabulOus walnutt case for sale even has a mother of pearl key hOle enlay....
Reminds me of an old girl friend she had a mother of pearl enlay around her key hole.
