After a day of looking at this post, with no replies, what panels are you referring to?

![[Linked Image from thumbs2.imgbox.com]](https://thumbs2.imgbox.com/ee/61/ipvQibXC_t.jpeg) I would hazard a guess that it is some mechanism to retain the strikers? Serbus, Raimey rse

Not a filled in area after a conversion from pinfire? I've never seen a pinfire Daly, but I don't get out much.

Not a filled in area after a conversion from pinfire? I've never seen a pinfire Daly, but I don't get out much. They could be some sort of a piece to cover the hole for the pinfire, but there would have been no reason to extend them back so far. The pinfire primer charge set right at the breechface. Also, there would have been no reason for a pinfire to have been built with the balls sculpted in that manner around the firing pins. I suspect they cover the firing pin retainers.
