ClapperZapper Sidelock Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 3,245 Likes: 423 Great Lakes region	I was told the 3 inch 28 gauge came along to compete with the 3 inch 20 gauge for waterfowl and pheasant. With waterfowl the density of non-lead shot is an issue, so the larger payload is handy. And of course for shooting at pheasants, the heavier payload allows a person to carry the lightweight 28 gauge gun. Out there doing it best I can.
