Seems there were two Berthier Boys: One Émile Berthier who had a hand in the Mannlicher-Berthier bolt-action rifles and carbines and antoher André Virgile Paul Marie Berthier, who was a machine gun fanatic. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berthier_rifleArquebusier Émile Berthier(Algerian Railroad Guy) https://patents.google.com/patent/US1446635A/enArquebusier André Virgile Paul Marie Berthier(Neuilly-sur-Seine France) Serbus, Raimey rse

Raimey, thanks for your detective work. I don't have the gun in hand, yet, so hopefully I can find out more when it comes. I don't know where the seller got Stadelmann name from, but did see a similar mechanism with the Stadelmann name in a Nitro Express post. Yes, from a visual standpoint, it does resemble a Bastien. That little gizmo on the left that you asked about ? Could it be a snuff box ? Here a thread with a Stadelmann if you scroll down a long way. http://forums.nitroexpress.com/prin...=paradox&main=251424&type=thread

![[Linked Image from thumbs2.imgbox.com]](https://thumbs2.imgbox.com/99/04/o2kk5lg1_t.jpg) ![[Linked Image from thumbs2.imgbox.com]](https://thumbs2.imgbox.com/e8/e2/UXxItYFx_t.jpg) ![[Linked Image from thumbs2.imgbox.com]](https://thumbs2.imgbox.com/25/49/QlYTJBi4_t.jpg) Friedrich Stadelmann retailed longarm.... Thanks to Mr. Halquist I now know how F.(Friedrich) Stadelmann in Suhl got in the mix. Friedrich Stadelmann peddled one and the previous custodian thought Stadelmann was turning them out. Stadelmann hung out his gunamking shingle in 1860 & fancied the Bayonet, as he was known for the blade. It is possible that his father too was a Büchsenmacher. Now his son or grandson was probably Paul Stadelmann, who was an apprentice @ Otto Bock on his >>Walkabout<< and went on to own E. Schmidt & Habermann as well as Friedrich Zschocke in Suhl, I believe. With that, he probably had his fingers in other Suhl pies too. Serbus, Raimey rse

Well......... Close but not Cigar on Bastin..... More than likely, the tubeset does not slide but rotates as in the Système Colleye/Coleye/Coley. Thanks to Newcomer for putting us on the straight & narrow. >>Maximilien Nicolas Colleye (also spelled Coleye and Coley; also traded as Colleye Fils) was a gunmaker/actioner located in Hoignée-Cheratte, Liège, in business from 1850-1865.<< https://littlegun.be/arme%20belge/artisans%20identifies%20c/a%20coleye%20m%20n%20gb.htmSerbus, Raimey rse
