Well, last night I shot two rounds of 5 stand, using these Clever RX1 Featherlite loads. I had no issues opening the gun.
BUt, with that said, as I was inspecting some of the fired shells, focusing on the primers, I think I've convinced my self that Kutter hit the nail on the head.
After measuring several of the fired primers, I still see some indications of dragging, but not enough to cause the hang I guess.
ALthough these primers seem a bit harder than the cheddites and didn't hang up on the firing pins as I broke the gun open, not only is the depth of the indentation slightly less,
but I also noticed that NONE of these fired primers exhibit the blackness of some of the primer indentation after firing that I was seeing with some Cheddites.
I assume this is an indication of the firing pin actually puncturing the primer possibly.
It does appear as I look closely at the gun as I break it open that there is a delay in the firing pins being
released by the cocking rod.
So, as most indicated, this seems like a timing issue, and as I read in some other threads, not uncommon to 'Flues' as these parts are known to wear.
Anyway, so I'll have to look into getting this resolved at some point, as this is apparently just a 'band-aid' , and not the fix.
Unfortunately, Les at Diamond Gunsmithing in Ithaca is no longer with us.
Has anyone had any experiences with any gunsmiths in upstate ny that are familiar with the Flues and this issue?
