The piece on your gun that has a problem is called a cocking hook.

It might be bent or it might be worn. It’s a hardened part so if it’s bent, don’t go Beating on it with a hammer. It has to be annealed first. After it cools, you can straighten it and polish it, and then you can reharden it pretty easily.
