Mack's Prairie Wings has Hevi Shot Classic Shotgun ammo for sale. I bought 2 boxes today to pattern and try on pheasants on WPA's. I got the 2 3/4", 12 ga, #5, 1250ft/s. A box of 10 goes for about $30. A little more than Bismuth but we all know that's not much of an option these days.

They have both 2 3/4" and 3" for both 12 and 20 gauge guns. Hevi Shot also replied to email I sen them and said it will be available at Cabela's also.

Just remember by 'Classic' they mean these with appropriate chamber lengths: Winchester M21, M12, Browning 'Superposed', Auto 5, Remi 32, Remi 31, Ithaca 37, ........ Don't use this stuff in those 'Antique' things with short chambers and forcing cones.

I think this product is going to hurt the Hevi-Shot fan club.

The fact that Fiocchi, Kent of WV load target and upland light steel loads has not gone unnoticed. I have bought sub 6lb repeater with mod. 30" tube because there was more then rainy weather in future forecast.

Watch your 21's for short chambers. The last one (pre-war II) I checked had 2 5/8 chambers.

I actually had a customer come up and ask me about the hardness and density on a box of shells today...it was the "Classic Doubles" in 12ga - 1 1/8oz - 1250fps. Popped the website up and it claimed higher density and softer than Biz....somehow also less deformation.......

They seem to be holding no punches in comparison to bismuth, now that they are defunct.

Around $3 a pop.

Best,
Mark

Bismuth 2&3/4" wildfowl loads were $1.80-2.10 per shot. Three bucks is tough price when most folks are in "trade down" mode. It's cheaper so I bought shotgun to use light steel loads instead.

It is just this seeming conradiction that makes some of us total doubters and flatly unwilling to buy these expensive shotshells until we have some definitive information on their composition and hardness. MAYBE this "HeviShot" is a plastic + heavy metal powder mix, like Kent TM, which would make it quite different than normal HeviShot.

I never found much deformation on either Bi-Sn alloy or Kent TM pellets recovered from ducks and geese. I totally discount their comments about Bi-Sn, having used it quite successfully for the past 5 years. Actually, I find that Bi-Sn pellets perform much like really hard, Cu-plated Pb-Sb alloy shot.

I e-mailed the HeviShot folks many weeks ago with numberous questions, including actual hardness, chamber pressures, guns tested in, when would 16 gauge ammo be available, when would 65 or 67 mm ammo be available, etc. No answers. So, no buy.

Niklas
