Picked up the gun today from my gunsmith and took it out to shoot. The whole job turned out very nicely, at neutral and with a slip on pad it fits me almost perfectly. Even at 6 1/2 pounds (and w/30-inch tubes) it handles much like a subgauge gun. The back-action locks make for a fairly slim action and the triggers are exemplary. The non-rebounding hammers take a little getting used-to, but after the first few clays it became almost "normal". Also, the tubes cleaned up to the point where they look nearly perfect (they were a bit rugged before) so... I'm well pleased. This could of been a pig-in-the-poke for me. Shooting it with the Vintagers tomorrow.

I will Mike, taking elk-stuffed baked peppers and Texas Trash Pie for the main repast after the festivities. All of the local clubs were badly flooded after the big storms here Thursday night, so it'll just be 5-stand tomorrow.

Such a great pleasure to enjoy these handcrafted "eared" guns in sport clays and hunting. Enjoy a lot and show pictures!

I was wondering when someone would ask about that. My wife says we could actually call it "Colorado Compost" pie because of all the changes she made to the recipe to make it gluten-free.
It was simply a recipe she found online (with that name) that used a collection of materials she already had on hand. It certainly looks good....I'll have to let you know about the results.

After action report...nice day, good folks, great time. It was a bit warm, but most were dressed for it. Saw some other fun, new guns, met some new folks, and had a nice lunch.....every day should go this well. The Joseph Lang worked flawlessly (the operator didn't) but it was insightful all the same. This gun is light and slim, so shooting lots of targets with it is probably not a good long-term plan. Even with the slower RSTs, the felt recoil was fairly sharp. Unless I come up with some really-soft handloads for it, I think I'll relegate it to very casual use. The good news here is that it should be lots of fun in the grouse woods (it patterns beautifully with the RST spreader loads).
