A typical 12 gauge bore diameter is .729, the full choke on his right barrel brings that down to .684, the extra full choke on his left barrel brings that down to .679.
Ergo: Right .684
Left .679
And the BRNO may actually start out at .724 which would reduce those diameters down ANOTHER 5 thousands!
The Brenneke Rottweil 3" slugs are, if my memory serves me---.730, and maybe .735
You don't want to be shooting those hardened fat Brenneke slugs through your choked smoothbore. It is far fatter than those bores with those choke numbers. I know the brenneke design has rails on them that decompress a tad to provide a no slop fit in cylinder bore (.724-.729) therefore most Brenneke's are .730 diameter for smoothbore shots guns at .724 to .729, but you don't want the slug to be much bigger than a couple of thousands bigger and only IF it is a Brenneke with that thin rail design. LGF's numbers spell trouble.
And that doesn;t even get into the matter of the 3 inch shell squished into that little 2 and 3/4 inch chamber!
I think that is a good idea of rolling your own. It is easy. And fun. No big investment. A roll crimper for a drill or drill press is what $30?
You can buy .670 dangerous game slugs or even round balls in .675.
I agree with you that if I was in Buffalo country, I would want at least a gallant effort on my part and slip 2 slugs in my BRNO 49ZP.
If you can, ship in some factory loads, you probably don't need more than a box of five. However, if it really is impossible to get a box o five slugs in to country then at the least I would recommend BUCKSHOT. 000 or... What is the largest size pellets you cna shoot there anyway???
The results should be considerably better than hitting it with your birdshot or trying to spit in its mouth (although hey I have heard nuttier things that worked!) At any rate, I would NOT try the 3 Inch Magnum Brenneke slugs in your tight little BRNO.
If it is at all possible I would be honored to load up some slugs for you in a .275 ish range. 2 and 3/4 inch length. But how do I send them to you? The baked inside the birthday cake thingy probably wouldn't work....
