I was looking for some data to load short tens. I have my eye on a short ten and was trying to figure out what I might use it for and what I could feed it. In the back of my mind I thought I had been down this road before, when I was looking to shoot a LeFever I own about 15 years ago. Short tens were long out of favor when I was a kid and boxes sat on gun shop shelves for years. How I wish I had picked them up for a few dollars. Opportunity lost.

So I did a web search for short ten data and found that several board members here shared their short ten data. It took me several hours to find what I had left from loading back then. 38 loaded, Bismuth shells. 1 1/4 ounce 5’s and 2’s. Those should run me for a couple days or longer. As I recall they worked great. I can always load more. I was very happy to find them but then realized I’ve got a ton of gun related, non gun stuff.

Don’t know if I should be happy for finding the long loaded ammo already waiting, or worried about how many other things I’ve done, which I now no longer recall. I’ve got ammo loaded for rifles I no longer shoot, or even own. Ammo for some shot guns that I doubt I’ll ever use up. Gun parts for repairs like 1100s, parts for other guns, countless MEC parts, orphan barrels for doubles or pumps and semi autos, factory stocks that were take offs or bought as spares. What a mess I’ll leave behind for my family. I’ve left clear instructions how to deal with my guns but now need to leave clear instructions how to dispose of all the rest of my addiction. Ammo, if not labeled, as to content will need to be disassembled, I’ll label factory stocks for make and model, for EBay sale I guess. My father spent years culling his stuff, to reduce what I had to deal with. Now it’s my turn. Guess the first step will be to thin the factory stocks. Might as well sell them now to buy other clutter, I mean much needed stuff.
