I gave each of my children either a dozen guns or the cash equivalent for a daughter who only wanted four for now. That cleared up about fifty spots several years ago but I made the classic mistake of continuing to buy more guns. I have a list of guns which are to go to each of the kids upon my death and several guns to friends if I go before they go. But the endless accessories and paraphernalia which go with shooting and loading is something I never got around to dealing with.
I am in my seventh decade of accumulating things, with little letup. While not a hoarder or pack rat but I have still got too much stuff and many items only make sense to me. I know what each item goes to and what I thought behind keeping it in the first place. Take off stocks are going to be the first thing I get rid, by 90% if I can. It is not the money invested that I worry about but the ungodly mess I will leave for others to deal with. It will take days to clean out my gun room in my basement but after Dove season I intend to get a good start on it.
