i have examined a "not for ball" (pre 1888?) marked boxlock 10 gauge, originally stamped with 10 in the diamond - which i interpreted as standard 2 5/8 chambers. it had made another trip to b'ham under the 1925 rules and was stamped as 3 1/4"....to the best of my knowledge, the longest english 10 ga chambering - prior to the 3 1/2" american magnum.
the gun in question does not appear to me to be an FP action....looks similar to an empire action, but realizing that cannot be the case, i will go with parabola's proposal - that is an a & d gun from the lean years of the great depression.
best regards,
tom
