I always made my own from hickory ramrod blanks I bought one year at Friendship, IN at the NMLRA National Matches. I tapered them and installed the appropriate furniture, and "aged" them to look appropriate. Fine shotguns of the era had ebony ramrods, and the few originals I have seen are beautiful. Don't know if TOTW would make one from ebony, but it is a superior wood for the purpose, if grain runs properly. Whichever, it is imperative that the grain be inspected in the blank beforehand to ensure that it runs perfectly straight throughout it's length and does not angle out the side at any point. Angling grain in a ramrod leads to breakage when pressure is put on it to seat a charge, or a ball/bullet, and when the breakage occurs it always does so with a sharp point that usually pierces the hand. Ugly wounds can ensue.
