I looked at a Fox 12 last week, and I'm thinking not close enough. It had 32" bbls, and almost certainly had been restocked, and refinished. Well done tho. The price was 899.00and the tag said it was an AE. I thought about it after I got back to the home place, and figured out what put me off it. When I picked it up, it seemed thick and heavy. Could it have been an HE? As I remember it had only border engraving on it, I never looked at the water tables. Mistake not buying it? Whatcha think? Ansly Fox. No it aint Bo whoop..

http://www.foxcollectors.com/Check on this site. They have photos of each grade. Sounds like it is possible it may be an HE.I would think it would be marked on the water table. Sounds like a good buy for any Fox if it is in good condition.

I think that regrets are in order if the stock fit you. Maybe not from a collectors standpoint.

32" AE for $899.00? Time for some regrets.  If it was an HE then time for BIG regrets.

Took Baydogs suggestion...The gun looks like an early AE or an HE..I am sure it is still there, and I'll have my boy check on it more closely....If it had been a Lefever, Ida snapped it up. Thanks

I've seen a few early style A- and B-Grades that were quite heavy, and on the bottom of the tubes, under the forearm where the line "FLUID STEEL KRUPP ESSEN" it say something like "EXTRA HEAVY" OR "HEAVY WEIGHT" under that line.

If the Fox had a set of 32" 1-weight barrels, that would explain the heavy feel when you shouldered it. It's easy enough to check out the engraving or the water table letter mark to verify its grade. I shot a 30" XE recently that had 30" 1-weight barrels and it wasn't anything like a magic wand. Silvers

With the interest in longer barrels it seems like the Fox you describe should be a fast sale. While I do not enjoy caring my long barrel Fox it is a joy to shoot out of the blind. More than one goose has fallen to it and the rest that got away got respect for what a long barrel, tight choked gun, could do when I do my part.
