Lets remember Superposed 76mm with 30" barrels is a "Classic Double". Oh, there used to be an outfut out of St.Louis called Classic Doubles that sold "Win 101" and then newly designed sxs called 201. Lovely classic lookers they were.
Some dude wondered whether this new stuff is safe in his pre-WWI Parker Bros. shotgun. I nearly fell out of my seat laughing!
You see, those shells are made specifically for CLASSIC DOUBLES made at old Olin-Kodensha plant that was turned into a golf course. RIDDLE SOLVED!
PS. I had the 201 and can recommend it w/o reservations. Those O/U they made were superior to most variations of Winchester 101.

Out of curiosity, did the Japanese make questionable doubles? I don't recall the board suggesting it as long as I've been here.

I have owned two from BC Miroku and one by Nikko and these were not "questionable". All were excellent guns for their price range. I would seek out older ones like Sakaba 'Royal' BLNE since these were puropse built upland guns. Most of those recent ones are bit on the heavy side so they're make pretty darn good waterfowlers guns. The BSS BLE and O-K Heavy Duck' with 30" tubes were representative of this "fowling" breed.
These are the guns HS CD was probably designed for.
