What is “honest wear”? Always seemed like a ridiculous phrase to me. Honest as opposed to dishonest wear. Either there’s wear or there’s not. But I digress….and agree with the others…..why bother unless you’re doing a rejoint. Like previously stated, not a great idea to remove metal from a spot that requires metal to be there to ensure good fit/seal/joint.
Are you talking about the decorative lines that are seen on the the breach end of barrels, like a Purdey? Those are easy enough to re-scuff in and likely won’t remove any metal. If your talking about engine turning the breach, then yes, Id pass on doing that.
