tudorturtle Sidelock Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 1,583 NY	DT, Have you stripped the buttstock yet? Wonko's Brew or Zip Strip? Just a thought - a mild oxalic acid solution will lighten wood a bit. After stripping all the old oil, muck and mire out of the buttstock - if it's still blackish you might try to lighten it a bit and find a color match more towards the mid-range of wood hues.
