There were changes at the proof house in Birmingham a few years ago. Prior to that, it was rare for an old gun to fail proof, today, it isn’t uncommon at all. Some makes of guns have a reputation for not making it through since the change.

I have no clue why someone would make the case that either gun wasn’t safe. But, Damascus is ‘kinda like lutefisk, not everyone partakes. I don’t but, you do. Whatever.

The real threat is idiots who don’t pay attention to what they are doing, and load either type of gun beyond safe limits of pressure. Doesn’t matter if it is Damascus or steel.

Or, a Springfield rifle.
