So, the extreme woke nanny state that is the UK says damascus is safe to shoot, but some kind of alchemic transformation occurs when imported into this country, thus rendering it unsafe to use?? And Purdey builds new make with damascus? I think I'm pretty safe.

Thanks, Brent. I guess I need to embrace the diversity of various interpretations and perceptions of assumed facts. ;-)

Yep. pretty much. I have a gun with the same proofs. Ted tells us that it is going to blow apart. smile But not today.

Completely wrong. Ted says he doesn’t care if it blows up when you shoot it. Totally different.

If it does blow up when you shoot it, you will blame it on climate change. Or, Trump. Or, both.

Best,
Ted

Another one of your bullshit claims, Ted. Just like that $400/barrel oil we were going to be seeing this summer. What happened there? Dang. WRONG AGAIN.

Unless the nutty professor loads your ammo. He has a track record of blowing guns up.

But, why are two identically proved shotguns (by the same proof house), both 2 3/4, 2 1/4 tons, 1 1/4 oz, etc, perceived by some as one being safe, and the other unsafe, regardless of the proof house rules? If we can't trust a proof house, why then do we trust the manufacturer's in this country????

DropLockBob, some folks here just aren't rational. That's all. We've seen a couple of them erupting today. Their egos get in the way of their ability to follow simple logic. They cover with little jabs at whomever is handy that they don't like. Tomorrow or next month, they will stay the exact opposite, likely as not.

What manufacturers in this country? Getting to be pretty slim pickings on that front.

There were changes at the proof house in Birmingham a few years ago. Prior to that, it was rare for an old gun to fail proof, today, it isn’t uncommon at all. Some makes of guns have a reputation for not making it through since the change.

I have no clue why someone would make the case that either gun wasn’t safe. But, Damascus is ‘kinda like lutefisk, not everyone partakes. I don’t but, you do. Whatever.

The real threat is idiots who don’t pay attention to what they are doing, and load either type of gun beyond safe limits of pressure. Doesn’t matter if it is Damascus or steel.

Or, a Springfield rifle.

What springfield rifle would that be Ted? I've never owned a Springfield.
