Well, 1954 rules guns are still considered to be in proof, at least the last time I looked. I'll keep shooting my boeuf bourguignon and the rest of my english shotguns. lol

Pretty sure it's not a Springfield. You might reread that. Keep working on it. You can get it. Or heck, just make shit up. It's popular today.

Why didn’t you correct any of the posters in your “poor me” post that called it a Springfield? The problem is clearly understood to be a heat treatment issue that occurred in both Rock Island and Springfield produced model 1903 rifle actions. The experts simply refer to both guns as “Springfields”. Weasels try to subdivide the guns, and leave out the part where they blew the gun up through negligence on their part. Don’t they? http://m1903.com/03rcvrfail/Best, Ted

I was going through some of my Dad's old stuff, and I came across this postcard Simon sent him. Dad and Simon left us the same year, so in the interest of a little levity, I post it here. (hope I don't beak any rules) ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/2SRcVm6B/Gamekeeper.jpg)

I've had a couple of 1903's over the years, one was a sporter in .35 whelen. Never liked that rifle much, it seemed to have headspace issues. Got rid of it. I much prefer a good mauser or pre-64 model 70, or an FN, or an interarms ml10, Anything but the 1903. a piss poor copy of the real thing, at best. I have a lovely 7x57 sporter built on a G33/40 action. My favorite.

Sniper instructor, USMC 7th rifle corps, NARTS, Dover NJ. 22 years active duty, 8 years reservist. I like a lot of different guns, but, couldn’t imagine carrying a Garand around for 30 years. Cool picture, by the way. Best, Ted

Your Dad was a marine sniper instructor, or was it you? very cool.
