Recently got possesion of a Charles Boswell 12 g non ejector pigeon gun. The gun features 30 inch barrels with side clips, 2 3/4 chambers and a flat cut wide rib. It is choked 1/2 and full. Bore size at proof was 729 and now measures rb and lb 732 and 731 respectively. Can you guys advise the build quality of this maker and particularly his pigeon guns ? >729" ?has it been reproofed ? May be wrong but the engraving looks to be typical of Henry Morris

Boswells are excellent guns and your one looks very nice. I'd say it was built more as a wildfowling gun rather than a purpose made pigeon gun. The ducks engraved on it are useful clues

Charles Boswell is know to make quality guns. The engraving is what I would call an American style with game scenes, birds, dogs etc. Game scenes are usually not seen on the engraving of English guns. One might speculate this gun was made for the American market or ordered by an American client.
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

Very much the house style for Boswell pigeon guns,I`ve seen lots with the same engraving, side panel work, fences etc.
