A very good method for situations such as this was passed on to me by a superb gunmaker. Do as Stan has suggested and try to determine the closet standard pitch that you can find, thread the new screw for that size and pitch and then use the hardened female mate to form the threads to create a very good match. Once the threads are formed they are then hardened. This technique has saved my bacon more than once.
